  1. Understanding Wetland Functions: Learn to identify and assess essential wetland functions.
  2. Hydrology Planning with WetBud: Use WetBud software to create comprehensive water budgets and understand water circulation in wetlands.  Note: WetBud requires a Windows PC.
  3. Wetland Construction: Create wetland planting schedules, soil amendments, and preliminary project construction plans.
  4. Monitoring and Maintenance: Establish monitoring protocols to ensure wetland success.
  5. Forensic Analysis: Diagnose and fix issues in existing wetland projects.

Practical Application:

Conclude the course by designing a wetland mitigation project based on a local site. Weekly assignments will guide you through the data collection and design process, culminating in a detailed project plan reviewed by the instructor.

  • A Windows PC based laptop with admin rights* to install WetBud
  • Field gear (boots, work clothes, etc.) for onsite design studies

* Ideally WetBud should be installed prior to class.  We will provide the software beforehand.  There are some IT issues that we may have to work through. If you are using a company supplied computer you may need your internal IT people to help.
