Through lectures, guest seminars by industry leaders, and group projects, participants will gain a holistic understanding of sustainable environmental management from multiple professional perspectives.
Who Should Enroll: This course is perfectly suited for landscape architects, environmental scientists, and engineers interested in advancing their expertise in sustainable design and environmental management. It is ideal for professionals eager to implement cutting-edge BMPs in their projects while enhancing ecological and aesthetic values.
What You Need to Bring: Students are required to bring a laptop that meets specific technical criteria to ensure full compatibility with course software. Each laptop must be running Windows 10 or newer, as the WetBud software necessary for the course is only compatible with these versions of the Windows operating system. It is important that students preinstall WetBud on their laptops prior to attending the course. Please note that Mac or other non-Windows devices are not suitable for this requirement, as they do not support the necessary software configurations needed for the course activities. For the field components of the course, students are expected to come prepared with appropriate field attire. This includes durable, waterproof boots for wetland terrain, comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activity, and weather-appropriate gear such as rain jackets or sun hats to protect against the elements. Additionally, it’s advisable to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated, sunscreen for sun protection, and insect repellent to guard against bites. A notebook and pen for taking notes during field observations and activities are also essential. These items will ensure that students can participate fully in the hands-on learning experiences, regardless of weather conditions, while maintaining comfort and safety.
Certification: Upon completion, participants will be awarded a Certificate of Completion, affirming their advanced skills in the interdisciplinary approach to wetlands and stormwater management. This certification is recognized by many professional entities, supporting career advancement and professional credibility.
