Our workshop includes a complete explanation and demonstration of the design model. We will use a real field site to collect data at an existing dam removal mitigation bank. We will compare the pre-removal data with the as-built and field data, and model the overall ecologic uplift for the project.

Then it is your turn.

Go out and find a local dam, farm pond, or other man-made impoundment.

This is a very real, practical and hands-on way to learn how to use this design technique.

“Functional Mitigation Design” offers a cutting-edge online professional class focusing on the ecological and technical nuances of dam removal and the critical mitigation efforts required to restore natural functions to riverine ecosystems. Geared towards environmental engineers, conservation biologists, project managers, and regulatory agency staff, this course provides comprehensive training on creating and implementing mitigation designs that effectively address the challenges of dam removal projects.
