Watershed Academy

Grade Levels: 9-12
Objective: To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of watershed management and conservation practices through expert-led modules.
Resources: EPA Watershed Academy webcast seminars, online modules.

Lesson Details:

  • Introduction (10 minutes): Introduce the concept of a watershed and its significance in environmental management.
  • Activity 1: Online Module Completion (40 minutes): Students individually complete one or more self-paced online modules that cover topics such as non-point source pollution, watershed ecology, and management strategies.
  • Activity 2: Expert Seminar (30 minutes): Attend a live or recorded webcast where experts discuss current issues and strategies in watershed management.
  • Conclusion (15 minutes): Discuss the key takeaways from the modules and webcasts. Encourage students to think about how they can contribute to watershed conservation in their community.

Assessment: Students will be evaluated on their participation in the online modules and their contributions to the concluding discussion.
