Wetlands and Climate Change
Wetlands and Climate Change
2012 Federal Policy Workshop
NEW 404 Permit Rules
In November 2011, the California Department of Water Recourses (DWR), The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACOE), and The US Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) published the Climate Change Handbook for Regional Water Planning. In March 2012, the US EPA released the Public Comment Draft of the National Water Program 2012 Strategy: Response to Climate Change. Both of these documents discuss significant implications to the relationship of climate change and wetlands permitting. Industries that are directly affected by these proposed programs include:
- Energy
- Natural Gas Exploration including hydrologic fracturing (aka fracking)
- Commercial Real Estate Development
- Residential Real Estate Development
- Transportation (Highway, Rail, Air, etc.)
- And pretty much everything else!
Our 90-minute webinar workshop will present the latest Federal policy frameworks along with methods to assess wetland impacts and climate change. Several real case studies will be presented to demonstrate how climate change assessment is being incorporated into project planning. These climate change case study projects occur in the west coast and serve as great examples of what the March 2012 US EPA stated objectives plan to accomplish.
