If you have not logged into the affiliate website the link is:

We use Infusionsoft.com as our affiliate tracking system.  This login is also on the Swamp School website under “affiliates”.  You can choose your own username and password. If you have misplaced either of these, send me an email and I will email you back your username and reset your password. You can change the password once you log back in.

Our system does generate automatic emails that sometimes get caught in spam filters.  For example when a student signs up for a class and pays, you will automatically get an email letting you know this.  This is machine generated and the spam filters will mark the message as spam or delete it depending on your spam settings. To avoid this issue, please add these two email addresses to your “safe senders” or white list settings on your spam filter.

Q & A

The Swamp School is mainly focused on wetlands related classes.  Our bread and butter class is the wetland delineation training class.  This is offered as a traditional classroom and field class as well as an online and field option.  Many students have similar questions about this class so I thought I would share a few of these with you to help you better understand and market the class.

Q.  Do I get certified after taking the class?
A.  In short, no.  The class does meet the training requirements of the states that offer certification (VA for example).  However, only taking the class does not certify one to do wetland delineations.  To that end, there are no classes either public or private that do this.  Virgina requires that the student take the class first and them sit for their test in order to become a certified wetland delineator.  The class also counts as continuing education towards the Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification.

Q.  What is the difference between the online and classroom class?
A.  The same material is covered in both formats.  However, the online version allows the student to absorb the material at a much more relaxed pace.  There are about 24 hours of lecture in both formats.  The online version spreads this out over as much time as the student needs, usually a few weeks.  The classroom version does this in 3 days.  This is a lot of material to absorb in a short period of time.  Quite frankly, even though we charge more for the classroom version, I think that the online version is a better option.

Q.  If I sign up for the online version which field class can I take?
A.  Anyone you want.  There are some price differences for some of the venues.  This is due to the fact that we provide meals and lodging at our field camp sessions.

Q.  How long do I have to complete the online version?
A.  The default enrollment is  60 days.  However, the school policy is to keep the enrollment open for 30 days after the student completes the field potion of the class.  We will also keep the enrollment open if the student needs to use the class as a study guide for an upcoming certification test.

Key Words

Targeting the right keywords that attract visitors both in “organic” search (like Google, Yahoo, and MSN’s) and “pay per click” campaigns are the keys to a goldmine.

We have done the hard work for you. We have created a a list of over 200 target wetland keywords including “long  tail” keywords. You can download this file:

Next, you will want to create “search engine optimized” web pages for your current website (or new website you are trying to build). Many people called “search engine optimizer experts” are constantly trying to “solve” the Google, Yahoo, and MSN search engine algorithms.

Don’t fall into the trap of constantly tweaking your pages to rank highly for the keywords I have given you. You will also want to create a Google Adwords campaign to send traffic to your site (or to the Swamp School website).

Put the keyword so it appears once or twice in the “title” tag of your HTML. Once in the “keyword” metatag of your HTML, and once or twice in the “description” tag of your HTML.

Then sprinkle it naturally throughout the text in the body of your webpage. On some pages, put the keyword as part of the “alt” tag for an image you have as well.

The key is to make sure it is natural looking. My rule is, put it in just a little more than you would normally. So overuse the word just a tad.

This is called having good “keyword density”. And you want to follow this basic strategy every time you create a webpage for your website.

Going forward you will want to attack the highest traffic words first, and build a good “keyword density” web page for each with the Swamp School banner on them, or a recommendation for it and link to it in the text.

If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact me at marc@swampschool.org or by phone (919) 302-6900.

Best wishes on your success,

Marc
